  The good: it's a $4.50 freshly made pork roll. Oh, sorry, I mean PORKROLL.

  The bottom line: it's all about perspective, friends. When you're need to fill that awkward gap between a massive late brunch and an early dinner, and you want to do it without breaking a $5, this place delivers. Just don't expect white linen tablecloths or waiters in tuxedos refilling your glass of Pellegrino.

  If you were googling "pork rolls" instead of banh mi, this will pop up. Apparently in Australia a sandwich is referred to as a roll. The service was good, polite and prompt. I guess I'm used to the great viet food in Houston because the pork roll I had here was just ok. It was literally 40% carrots and two thin pieces of cha and one slice of the pink cha, a smear of pate, mayo, lettuce, cucumber and a green onion. For $5, it was ok.

  For a quick snack to take on the road, try this place. It's located just steps from our hotel, so we picked one up on the way to the harbour. It did its job and kept us nourished for the walk up and down Darling Harbour.
  
  As other patrons mentioned, there's nothing spectacular, but what do you expect for a $4.95-5.95 sandwich? Come on, you can't have THAT high standards at that price.
  
  Overall...
  1) Pate is quite flavorful.
  2) Meat is a little scarce, but BBQ pork was packed with flavor. Chicken was so-so.
  3) Veggies were fresh and pickled well! We asked for extra veggies for an additional $0.50.
  4) Chili peppers are hot and spicy, just the way we like it.

  DO NOT EAT HERE!
  
  This place is absolutely dreadful. It's a shanty nook next to a barber shop and directly in front of one of the busiest bus stops on George Street. If I were in Vietnam, this place would seem like the Ritz Carlton, but we're in Sydney and there are food standards.
  
  Yes, the sandwiches are cheap, but you get what you pay for. It's unappetizing when you see where restaurants store their food. Although this is a tiny place, there's no excuse for keeping veggies and other bags of food on the floor... Especially when I've walked pass this place and seen what they do when they close. They wet the floor and perhaps "clean" it... Well what happens to the food stored on the ground? No answer.
  
  The sandwiches are prepared by workers wearing the same latex gloves they used to collect money from the previous customer!! VOMIT!!!! Change your gloves for heaven sake!!!! At least take them off and wash your hands!!!! Even after witnessing the lack of proper hand hygiene, I decided to try the sandwich just so I can write this review.
  
  The only thing fresh tasting is the veggies... I guess it's hard to get that wrong. There was way too much lard/butter slathered on the sandwich. They even got my order incorrect. I asked for no chili and guess what I tasted on my first bite? Yup, chili! Ugh!
  
  If you're craving a Vietnamese sandwich, go to Banh Mi K across the road or to Phuong's at the end of Dixon Street. You'll thank me later when you don't have the runs...

  Finding a cheap and tasty Banh Mi sandwich is hard to find in Sydney, especially if you aren't by Cabramatta or Marrickville. Enter Sydney PORKROLLS. Found slightly off the corner of George Street + Goulburn Street, the only thing that makes this place stand out is the PORKROLLS sign in red print hanging over it. The place is about as big as a handicap stall at a toilet (not a bad thing) but it serves Banh Mi starting at $3.95!
  
  I said $3.95!
  
  They're fresh made to order (at least they look fresh) and you can get a pork roll and drink for $5. If you have the appetite of a caveman like me, that's 2 porkrolls for $8, the same price you'd pay for one at Taste Baguette or similar.
  
  The bread is pretty fluffy and not too dry, so it's easy to chew. The meat and toppings are decent as well, the only gripe being there's much more bread than meat...but hard to complain if it's $4. I tried the pork roll and BBQ pork roll (don't judge me) and the BBQ Pork roll was the tastier of the two.
  
  Give this place a shot if you're looking for banh mi on a budget.
